Pune: 9-Year-Old Girl Rescued From Raging Fire In Nancy Lake Home Building In Katraj

Katraj, 14th October 2023: A nine-year-old girl was successfully rescued by firefighters after being trapped in a blaze that broke out in a flat at Nancy Lake Home, located opposite Bharti Vidyapeeth in Katraj. The fire, which started around midnight, saw rapid action from the fire brigade, deploying a total of four vehicles and a rescue van from various stations.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters observed a large fire engulfing the second-floor flat. They quickly began to douse the flames from all angles. During their operation, they heard screams from a young girl, aged 9, who was trapped in an iron grill window.

Firefighters immediately sprang into action to rescue her. Using hydraulic cutters, ropes, and two BA sets, they were able to reach the girl by placing a ladder near her window from the terrace of a neighboring flat. Within just 5-10 minutes, their efforts paid off, and the young girl was safely rescued.

The fire was successfully brought under control in twenty minutes. Although the flat suffered major damage, there were no injuries or fatalities. An investigation is underway to confirm the suspected cause of the fire, believed to be an electrical short circuit.

Fire Officer Pradip Khedekar led the operation, with assistance from driver Yerphule, Atul Mohite, Tandel Mangesh Milwane, and firefighters Ramdas Shinde, Tejas Mandavakar, Chandrakant Gawde, Sudhir Navale, Laxman Ghwali, Digambar Bandivadekar, Tejas Kharivale, Arjun Yadav, and Abhijit Thalkar.
