Pune: Man Arrested for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor After Luring Her with School Drop Offer

Warje, 20th February 2026: Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for allegedly sexually assaulting a minor girl inside a car after luring her on the pretext of dropping her to school, officials said on Friday.
The case was registered at Warje Malwadi Police Station following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother. According to police, the accused was known to the family and had prior acquaintance with the girl’s mother.
Investigators said the incident occurred on the morning of February 18, when the accused offered to drop the 13-year-old schoolgirl to her school. Instead, he allegedly stopped the vehicle on DP Road in the Karvenagar area and threatened the girl before sexually assaulting her inside the car. He also allegedly warned her not to disclose the incident.
Police said the frightened girl later informed her mother, after which a complaint was lodged. A case was registered against the accused under rape charges and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
ACP Sujata Tanavade and Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi visited the scene as part of the investigation.
Officials added that the accused was apprehended within an hour of the case being registered, and the vehicle used in the crime has been seized.
