Pune: Man Assaulted For Calling Police To Complain About High Decibels During Procession, Two Arrested

Pune 27th Sept 2023: The City Police have arrested two people for allegedly assaulting a hotel owner for complaining to police about high decibels during the ganesh procession in Hadapsar area. The incident took place September 24 and the police have launched a search for one more accused in the case.

According to the complaint registered with police, the victim who is a resident of Manjari runs a restaurant in the area. During the procession organised on September 24, the victim’s wife asked the ganesh mandal members to lower the voice to which the members of the ganesh mandal objected and abused her. Angry with this, the 50-year-old man dialed the police control room to complain about the high decibels and the police team arrived.

The police asked the ganesh mandal members to lower the volume and the issue was solved. However, the accused got angry with the complainant over calling the police and assaulted him using metal rods and wooden sticks. A case in this regard was registered at Hadapsar Police Station and two accused were arrested.
