Pune 27th Sept 2023: The Pune City Police are prepared for the grand visarjan processions organised on the last day of ganesh festival. The ganesh mandals have been instructed to follow several norms during the procession on September 28 by the city police this year. This includes restriction on the number of dhol tasha pathaks taking part in the procession and the number of halts the mandal takes on its way to immersion tanks.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police Sandip Singh Gill said that only three Dol Tasha Pathaks will be allowed to perform with each ganesh mandal during the procession. This should include 50 dhols and 15 tasha players and they will be allowed to halt only at the dedicated places on the procession route. According to police, these dhol tasha pathaks along with their mandals will be allowed to halt at three designated spots on Belbagh-Sevasadan-Tilak Chowk route and they will be given 10 minutes to perform at each spot. This decision according to police was taken in a joint meeting with the ganesh mandals and police officials.

The city police said that over 205 CCTV cameras installed on the procession route will be monitored to maintain the law and order situation. Over 9,000 police personnel including officers will be deployed on the procession route and a total of 17 roads that are used for the procession by the ganesh mandals have been closed for traffic movement.
