Pune Man Blackmailed With Facebook Video Call Recording, Extorted Rs 5.54 Lakh

Vishrantwadi, 16th September 2021: A 35-year-old man from Dhanori was blackmailed with a Facebook video call recording and forced to pay Rs 5.54 lakh.

Based on his complaint, the Vishrantwadi police station under Pune city police has registered an FIR against one Zeenat Sharma.

According to police, the incident took place in May 2021. “On May 29, I saw a friend request from Zeenat Sharma. I did not accept but at the same time, there was a video call from her profile. I picked it up and saw a woman standing naked. She and I did not talk at all and disconnected the call within a minute. She immediately posted a screenshot of the Facebook profile of my wife and friends on my Facebook message and told me that if I don’t pay Rs 8,100 she will send the recording of the video call to my family and friends”, the complainant told police.

The accused gave him the bank account number of Dipti Kumari and he transferred Rs 8,100. Later she demanded more money and he was made to transfer a total of Rs 5.54 lakh to different bank accounts.

He lodged a complaint with the cyber police station. After enquiry the FIR has been registered with the Vishrantwadi police station.
