Pune Man Caught Transporting Wife’s Body on Scooter After Midnight Murder; Probe Underway

Pune, 6th May 2025: A man was caught red-handed by patrolling police while allegedly transporting his wife’s body on a scooter after strangling her to death. The crime took place around 1:30 am on Wednesday in the jurisdiction of the Nanded City Police Station.
The deceased has been identified as Babita Rakesh Nisar, and the accused is her husband, Rakesh Ramnayak Nisar.
According to police, after committing the murder, Rakesh placed his wife’s body on a two-wheeler and rode towards Bhumkar Bridge. However, his suspicious behavior near the Swaminarayan Temple area drew the attention of night patrol teams from the Ambegaon and Bharati Vidyapeeth police stations. Upon stopping him for questioning, officers discovered the body and immediately took him into custody.
Rakesh has been booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder. The victim’s body has been sent to Sassoon General Hospital for a post-mortem examination to help establish the precise cause and time of death.
While the motive for the crime remains unclear, preliminary investigations suggest the couple had been facing ongoing domestic disputes.
Officials from the Nanded City Police Station are leading a detailed probe to uncover the full sequence of events and the underlying motive behind the murder.
