Pune man cheated out of Rs 3.68 lakh in part-time job scam

Pune, 13th April 2023: A 54-year-old man was cheated out of Rs 3.68 lakh by unknown individuals who promised him a part-time job in Pune. Manoj Vasant Tamhane from Deccan, Pune filed a complaint at the Deccan police station against an unknown person on WhatsApp and an unknown woman on Telegram.

The complainant, Manoj Kamble, received a message on WhatsApp from the accused, promising him a daily earning of Rs 2,500 through a part-time job. The accused sent video links to the complainant, asking him to watch and like them to earn money. After showing some videos and depositing some money in Kamble’s account, the accused asked him to complete some prepaid tasks on the Telegram app to get a 30 to 40 per cent refund.

Kamble was eventually forced to open a Bitcoin trading account and was cheated out of Rs 3.68 lakh through different trading tasks, without receiving any additional refunds or principal amounts. Police Inspector S Pathan of Deccan Police Station is currently investigating the case.
