Pune: Man Dies By Suicide After BJP Corporator Threatens To Demolish His House

Dattawadi, 21st June 2021: A 53-year-old man from Dattawadi area died by suicide after a local corporator threatened to demolish his house. An FIR has been registered by Pune city police against BJP corporator Anand Rithe of Dattawadi.

According to police, the deceased has been identified as Sanjay Mahadev Surve. He was living in ward no. 29. Recently, he installed a mobile tower at his residence. Thereafter, corporator Rithe asked for money to keep the tower. But Surve refused to pay the money.

Rithe complained to the municipal corporation to demolish the tower. On 10th June the municipal officers demolished the tower. After that, Rithe threatened that he would also demolish Surve’s house.

Police said that unable to face the mental torture, Surve died by suicide. He was found hanging. Based on a complaint from his son, Dattawadi Police station filed the case. Further investigation is going on.
