Pune: Man Faces Charges After Hitting and Killing Dog Outside Housing Society in Hinjawadi
Hinjawadi, 14th June 2024: While driving outside a housing society, a man struck a dog, resulting in the dog’s death. This incident occurred in Marunji near Hinjawadi, in front of the Kolte-Patil Life Republic Society, at around 11:44 PM on Monday (10th June).
Rana Pratap Ramdas Bhattacharya (age 34, a resident of Kolte-Patil Life Republic Society) filed a complaint at the Hinjawadi Police Station. The Hinjawadi Police have registered a case against Shantanu Jaysingh Karane (age 27, also a resident of Kolte-Patil Life Republic Society) under IPC sections 429 (mischief by killing or maiming cattle, etc., of any value or any animal valued at fifty rupees), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation).
According to police reports, the accused Shantanu Karane was driving his vehicle out of the Kolte-Patil Life Republic Society when he hit the dog. The dog was seriously injured and died as a result. Enraged and saddened by the dog’s death, Bhattacharya complained to the Hinjawadi Police Station. The police are currently investigating the incident.
