Hinjawadi (Pune), May 17, 2020: Dr Balaji Lakde, Medical Officer, Maan Primary Health Center, said that a resident of Pune, who had moved to Hinjawadi from Pune to live with his relatives, has contracted corona and his report was positive. The patient had shifted to a relative‘s house in Hinjawadi on May 11. He was sent for investigation on the 14th as he was suffering from corona-like symptoms. As his report was positive, the citizens who came in contact with him in Hinjawadi have been quarantined.

The incident has shaken the administration and Hinjawadi residents who have been on high alert for the last two months. Because of the vigilance taken by the administration, the corona was not detected in Hinjawadi yet. However, due to the relaxation of lockdown in the state, the number of people coming from cities like Pune and Mumbai has increased and now the corona has infiltrated Hinjawadi which houses the world famous Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park where thousands of IT companies are located.

Health teams have been deployed in 6 wards of Hinjawadi Gram Panchayat and the entire village has been surveyed by health workers and teachers. Also, 79 people from Pune and Mumbai have been home quarantined and the administration is taking full care of their health, said Sandeep Jathar, block development officer, Mulshi.

Dr Lakde has appealed people to inform the administration about those coming from outside. “Although some citizens are stranded due to lockdown in red zone areas like Pune and Mumbai, they are now reaching out to family or relatives. No one can stop this. But people should inform the administration about the new guests, family member or friends so that the steps can be taken to stop the spread Coronavirus”, Dr Lakde said.
