Pune: Man Found Dead in Submerged Car in Manas Lake, Police Investigation On

Bhugaon, 9th January 2024: A white Skoda car found itself lodged in the waters of Manas Lake near Hotel Sarovar in Bhugaon on Monday around 9 am. Police, in collaboration with a Mulshi-based disaster management group, successfully retrieved the vehicle. However, their discovery inside the car was grim – a lifeless 40-year-old man clad in a cricket uniform.

 

 

The victim, identified as Ramdas Harichandra Pawar (40), a resident of Ambegaon Budruk, and an electric technician employed at the Briton Carpet manufacturing company in Urade village, Pirangut, was rushed to a hospital. Tragically, he was declared dead upon arrival. Pawar, a married individual with two children, was found in the back seat of the submerged car.

 

Paud police station, under the Pune rural police jurisdiction, registered an accidental death case and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Pawar’s demise.

 

Senior Inspector Manojkumar Yadav provided details, stating, “Local residents reported a floating Skoda car (MH 14 CY 0010) in Manas Lake. Our team, in collaboration with the Mulshi-based disaster management group led by Pramod Balkawade, successfully retrieved the car. Upon breaking the car locks and windows, we discovered the victim in an unconscious state in the rear seat. Immediate transport to the hospital resulted in the unfortunate declaration of his death by medical professionals.”

 

Yadav continued, “We found the victim’s Aadhaar card and mobile phone in the car. Despite the phone being non-functional, we extracted the SIM card and contacted individuals from the contact list. A comprehensive investigation is underway due to the suspicious nature of the death. The post-mortem report is awaited, and a thorough examination of the car will be conducted for potential clues.”
