Pune: Man Held For Sexually Assaulting Minor Girl In Her School Toilet
Shivajinagar, 25th March 2022: The sleuths from the Crime Branch of Pune city police have detained a man in his 30s for allegedly sexually abusing a minor girl in her school’s toilet. Police said that the girl is acquainted with the man.
The incident took place between 11 am to 11.30 am on Wednesday. The 11-year-old girl had walked to the school. The man had approached the girl near the school gate. While talking to her, he reached the school building and dragged her inside the toilet on the ground floor and sexually assaulted her. He threatened her with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone and then went away from there.
She had told about the incident to her friends who informed teachers. They called her parents and then her mother filed a complaint with the police.
According to school and police officials, the regular classes are held after 11.30 am as class X board exams are conducted in the morning. However, on Wednesday there was no board exam.
A police officer said, “Based on the statement of the girl we had made a sketch. The suspect is also caught on CCTV cameras near the gate. However, the cameras were not functional inside the school premises. Around 10 pm on Thursday, a Crime Branch policeman spotted him SB Road area and he was detained. Further investigation is going on.”
The officer said, “The accused is known to the girl. He is the father of a boy who studies in a nearby school and is acquainted with the girl. We are also checking if he is known to her father. He worked as a watchman.”
