Pune: Man Loses Rs 2.89 Lakhs After Clicking On Unknown Link On Mobile

Katraj, 4th March 2023: A young man lost Rs. 2.89 lakhs from his bank account after clicking on an unknown link on his mobile phone. Cyber criminals stole his debit card information and made online transfers of the amount. A case has been registered against the accused at Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station.

The victim, Rajan Sadashiv Vanashiv (48), a resident of Ambegaon Budruk, reported the incident to the police. He received a link ‘Customer-Support-PS.APK’ from an unknown number on his mobile phone. Upon clicking the link, cyber thieves gained access to all the information on his State Bank of India debit card. Using this information, they transferred Rs 2.89 lakhs online at different intervals.

This case highlights the dangers of clicking on unknown links, which can lead to the theft of personal information and financial fraud. The police have urged citizens to be cautious while opening links from unknown sources and to report any suspicious activity immediately.

The incident has left the victim in a precarious financial situation, and he is working with the bank and authorities to recover the stolen amount.
