Pune: Man Posing as Delivery Agent Rapes Woman in Kondhwa; Police Launch Manhunt

Kondhwa, 3rd July 2025: A 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped inside her home by a man who entered her building under the guise of a delivery executive. The attack took place around 7:30 pm on Wednesday, prompting immediate police action and a full-scale investigation.

Accused Used Pepper Spray to Force Entry
According to officials from Kondhwa Police Station, the assailant posed as a courier delivery agent and gained access to a gated housing society in the upscale area of Kondhwa. He then approached the woman’s apartment and claimed he had a package for her.

“When the woman responded that she hadn’t ordered anything and refused to open the door, the accused told her he still needed her signature. He suddenly sprayed pepper spray through the gap in the security door, disorienting her,” a senior officer said. “He then forced his way inside and committed the sexual assault.”
The woman, who lives with her brother, was alone at the time of the attack.

Disturbing Post-Assault Behaviour
In a disturbing turn, the attacker allegedly used the survivor’s mobile phone after the assault to take a selfie and leave a message indicating intent to return, police sources said. The chilling act has heightened the fear and outrage in the community.

The survivor immediately informed her brother and contacted the police.
