Pune: Many Trees Felled In NIBM Reserve Forest, Morning Walkers Entry Banned

Kondhwa, December 24, 2020: A large number of trees were found axed in the NIBM reserve forest surrounded by concrete buildings from the all the sides in NIBM annexe area. According to the area residents, as many as eighty trees were chopped from the trunk under a high tension wire which passes through the forest.

The citizens have expressed concern over the indiscriminate felling of trees in the area. At present, the forest authorities have banned morning walkers from strolling in the area. The decision has left many citizens wondering behind the reason to ban morning walkers in the forest. The citizens have demanded reopening of the forest to all without any prior permission.

Forest officials were unavailable for comment on the issue
