Pune: Maratha Morcha Members Protest Against Sadavarte  

Although Sadavarte was granted bail by the court, complaints have been lodged against him at various places in the state. He was opposed by the Maratha community after he arrived in Pune today for questioning.

Maratha Kranti Morcha office bearers marched outside the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station to oppose Gunaratna Sadavarte. In an interview, Sadavarte had made an offensive statement about the descendants of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Today, activists shouted slogans against Sadavarte. At this time, the police detained the activists.

Two years ago, a case has been registered against Sadavarte for his objectionable statement about the descendants of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Bharti Vidyapeeth police station had summoned Sadavarte for questioning on Tuesday (May 2) afternoon. He was again summoned for questioning the next morning around 9.30 in the morning. The interrogation lasted about two hours.

Sadavarte then walked out without speaking to the media. As Sadavarte was leaving the Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station in his van, the Maratha Kranti Morcha office bearers and activists shouted slogans against him. Maratha Kranti Morcha coordinator Sachin Adekar, Rajendra Kunjir and other activists had joined the agitation.

Police have recorded the in-camera reply of Gunaratna Sadavarte. His voice samples have been taken for investigation.

Senior Police Inspector Vijay Puranik said that “Sadavarte’s interrogation continues as per court order. Along with this, his voice samples are also taken. The further investigation is underway. And he has to come for the inquiry whenever he is called.”
