Pune: Mastermind Accused Of Blackmailing People And Demanding Money Through Online Sextortion Arrested
Pune, 22nd November 2022: A young man had recently died by suicide after being fed up of ‘sextortion’.
In this crime, the mastermind accused Anwar Suban Khan (29), a resident of Gurugothdi, Laxmangarh district in Rajasthan, has been arrested by Pune city police. While the accused was being taken away, the relatives of the accused and the people of the village opposed the police. They pelted stones at the police.
The team of Dattawadi police station arrested the accused and seized five mobile phones.
The complainant, who filed a complaint at Dattawadi Police Station, received a message on his Instagram account saying ‘Hello’ and immediately a photo appeared. When the complainant opened the photo, he saw a half-naked photo of his 19-year-old younger brother. It was a screenshot of a photo or video. The sender deleted it immediately after it was seen by the complainant. After that, the complainant got a call from the girlfriend of the complainant’s brother and she said that the complainant’s brother called him with a nude video on Instagram and blackmailed him for money, so he paid Rs 4,500 and his brother was upset because the said person is still demanding money.
Therefore, when the complainant called his brother, he did not pick up the phone, so the complainant got suspicious and came running home from the place of work. His brother had jumped from the 10th floor of the residential building. A case was registered at Dattawadi Police Station.
When the police arrested the accused, they investigated more. Most children and women of that village were trained in this kind of online sextortion and blackmailed the citizens and asked for money.
Abhay Mahajan, the senior police inspector of Dattawadi police station, said this is how the young generation is ending their lives by falling prey to online sextortion. However, citizens should report to the cyber crime investigation team of the nearest police station without being afraid of such online sextortion.
