Pune: MCOCA Action Against Gang Leader Harkar And Accomplices In Loni-Kalbhor

Pune, 12th November 2023: In a disturbing incident at Indiranagar Chowk, Loni-Kalbhor, Abhijeet Abhimanyu Harkar, the alleged gang leader, along with four accomplices, carried out a brutal assault on 25th Sepetember.

 

The victim, chatting with his friend Salman Pathan, faced a sudden attack from Prathamesh Ayre and Pranav Shirasath when asked to drive two-wheeler carefully.

 

The assailants, armed with iron rods and a koyta, left the complainant and his friends injured and terrified.

 

The victim filed a complaint at Loni-Kalbhor Police Station under Section 37(1) (3) of the Maharashtra Police Act, 1951, Criminal Law Amendment 3,7.

 

The investigation revealed the arrest of three individuals: Abhijit Abhimanyu Harkar, Abhishek Dattatraya Rampure, and Prathmesh Ganesh Ayre. Two others, Pranav Bharat Shirsath and Gaurav Gopichand Badde, are still wanted.

 

Police said that Harkar has a history of criminal activities, with six cases against him since 2019, including attempted murder, possession of firearms, and causing grievous bodily harm. Despite preventive actions, the accused continued to commit crimes.

 

The accused were previously externed for two years in 2021, as per section 55 of the Maharashtra Police Act. However, they resumed criminal activities upon the completion of the period.

 

In response to the escalating criminal activities of the gang, the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) has been invoked. The proposal submitted by Shashikant Chavan, Senior Police Inspector of Loni Kalbhor Police Station, has been approved by Additional Commissioner of Police, Eastern Regional Division, Pune City, Ranjan Kumar Sharma.

 

The decisive action against the organized criminal gang was commended by Commissioner of Police, Pune City, Retesh Kumaarr.

 

This operation marks the 83rd under the MCOCA action, demonstrating the commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the residents.
