Pune: MCOCA Against Gangs Terrorizing Warje Area; 103 Gangs Dealt With Under MCOCA So Far

Pune, 25th October 2022: Commissioner of Police Amitabh Gupta has ordered action under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against the gangsters terrorizing the Warje area. Therefore, the number of gangs under MCOCA has increased to 103.

 

Avinash Ramprasad Gupta (20), a resident of Veda Gaurav Society, Shinde Pool, Shivane, Sagar Bhagwat Warkari (22), Vikas Sibban Goud (18), both residents of Rahulnagar, Shivane, Avinash Suresh Sharma (19), Mhamya alias Sandeep Nathuram Khaire (41), both residents of Ramnagar, Warje, Mehboob Babu Dafedar (19), resident of Shivane are the names of the gangsters who were targeted.

 

Avinash Gupta is the leader of the gang and the police have taken action under MCOCA Act against seven minors including Gupta, Warkari, Goud, Sharma, and Dafedar.

13 associates of Gupta’s gang have been charged with serious crimes in Warje, Shivane areas. Severe crimes such as attempted murder, extortion, possession of illegal weapons and intimidation have been registered against Gupta along with his accomplices.

 

Senior Police Inspector of Warje Police Station DS Hake proposed to take action against Gupta and his accomplices. The calls were made by Crime Branch Police Inspector Dattaram Bagve, and Sub-Inspector Manoj Bagal. The proposal was submitted to the Additional Commissioner of Police Rajendra Dahale, and Deputy Commissioner Pournima Gaikwad. After that, Police Commissioner Gupta ordered to take decisive action against the gang. Assistant Commissioner of Police Rukmini Galande is investigating.

 

In the last 1.5 years, on the orders of the Commissioner of Police, action has been taken against 103 gangs in the city.
