Pune, 15th November 2022: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has started work on the Hinjewadi to Shivajinagar Metro project. Various measures are being taken to avoid traffic jams on the roads where metro work is going on.

Asphalting work has been done on damaged roads. To assist in traffic control, traffic controllers have been appointed and made available to the traffic department. Also, parking and stopping of vehicles on Baner and Ganeshkhind roads have been banned by PMRDA.

Construction of the alternative road, widening of existing roads, and other measures have been undertaken by PMRDA before starting the work at University Chowk. The Pune Police Commissioner and Municipal Commissioner inspected this road last week. In this, where the work of the metro project is not underway or there is time to start, the obstacles should be taken from the middle of the road and removed again before starting the work so that the existing traffic is not obstructed.

Accordingly, the officials of PMRDA and Pune Municipality’s project department recently conducted an actual site inspection.

In the meantime, as per the instructions given by PMRDA, the metro contractor has erected barriers of the minimum required width in the Baner village area where the metro work is going on and the rest of the barriers have been taken to the middle of the road or the width of the barriers has been reduced. In the stretch from Balewadi to Shivajinagar, where the metro project is going on, barriers have been placed in the middle of the road with a width of nine meters.

According to the contract, the company working must complete the metro project within 40 months. For that, it is necessary to provide the necessary space for the construction of the metro project. PMRDA has informed the present officials of Pune Municipal Corporation that PMRDA, Metro Contractor Company has shown to the present officials that it is not possible to take the obstacles in the middle of the road beyond the minimum required width at the place where the actual construction of Metro is going on.
