Pune Metro Announces Extended Services, 41-Hour Non-Stop Operation for Ganeshotsav 2026
Pune, 9th September 2026: Pune Metro has announced an extended operating schedule and special crowd-management measures for Ganeshotsav 2026 to facilitate the movement of thousands of devotees expected to visit the city during the festival.
As per the schedule, metro trains will run at five-minute intervals during peak hours from September 14 to 25 across the metro network.
From September 14 to 16, metro services will operate as per the regular timetable, from 6 am to 11 pm. A special extended schedule will come into effect from September 17 to 24, when services will remain operational from 6 am to 2 am to cater to devotees travelling late at night.
The metro has made special arrangements for Anant Chaturdashi. Services will operate continuously from 6 am on September 25 until 11 pm on September 26, providing an uninterrupted service for 41 hours. Normal operating hours of 6 am to 11 pm will resume from September 27.
Mahatma Phule Mandai station to have one-way movement
Pune Metro has issued a special advisory regarding Mahatma Phule Mandai Metro Station, which is expected to witness heavy footfall during the festival.
The station will operate in a unidirectional manner from September 14 to 26 to regulate passenger movement. Gate No. 3 near Lokmanya Tilak Statue will be used only for entry, while Gate No. 2 on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Road will be used for passengers exiting the station.
The metro administration has appealed to devotees to avoid getting off at Mahatma Phule Mandai station for Ganesh darshan and use it primarily for their return journey.
Devotees travelling on Corridor 1 towards the Peth areas have been advised to alight at Kasba Peth Metro Station.
Passengers travelling on Corridor 2 from the Vanaz side have been advised to use Deccan Gymkhana Metro Station, while those travelling from the Ramwadi side should use PMC Metro Station to access the central Pune areas.
Devotees advised to avoid interchange at District Court
The metro administration has also appealed to devotees to avoid changing corridors at District Court Metro Station, where Corridors 1 and 2 intersect, due to the expected rush.
Instead, passengers have been advised to use suitable stations on their respective corridors, including Kasba Peth, PMC and Chhatrapati Sambhaji Udyan, depending on their travel direction.
Pune Metro has urged passengers to follow the designated entry and exit arrangements, use the recommended stations and cooperate with officials to ensure safe, smooth and efficient passenger movement throughout Ganeshotsav.
