Pune Metro Conducts First Trial Run From Garware College To Deccan Metro Station and Phugewadi To Dapodi Metro Station
Pune, 15th August 2022: Pune Metro today conducted first trial run on Garware college Metro station to Deccan Metro station and Phugewadi to Dapodi Metro station.
Pune Metro crossed its daily ridership milestone, ridership crossed more than 70,000 (till 5 pm) on 15.08.2022
Vanaz to Garware and PCMC to Phugewadi sections of Pune Metro were made operational after inauguration of Pune Metro on 6th March 2022 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
On the occasion of the 15th August and Azadi ka Amrit Mahostav, 75 years of independence, Pune Metro achieves yet another milestone by completing the first trial run from Phugewadi metro station to Dapodi metro station in Reach 1 and from Garware metro station to Deccan metro station in Reach 2. The trial was great success and it paved way for the opening of Metro operation beyond Garware college metro station towards civil court and Phugewadi towards Shivajeenagar metro station in coming months.
The trail run began about 10.30 am from the currently operational Garware college metro station to Deccan Metro station and back. Similarly it extended from Phugewadi to Dapodi Metro station and back. The trial speed of both the trains was 15 KMPH and it was completed as planned.
On this occasion Dr Brijesh Dixit, MD MahaMetro said, “We are committed to open the remaining sections of Metro in coming months and the first train trial run from Phugewadi metro station to Dapodi metro station in Reach 1 and from Garware metro station to Deccan metro station in Reach 2 is the starting point for that.”
On the occasion of 75 years of independence many Punekars chose to travel by Metro. Pune metro ridership broke previous per day record. Till 5 pm more than 70,000 people travelled by metro. The previous daily ridership record was 67,280 passengers per day. Large number of school children’s, senior citizens, family groups, students and daily commuter chose to travel by Metro. The ridership will cross 75,000 passengers per day on this August day of 75 years of Independence, officials said.
