Pune, 19th February 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has given the green light to two new metro corridors connecting Hadapsar to Loni Kalbhor and Hadapsar to Saswad railway station. The ambitious expansion, estimated to cost ₹5,704 crore, will be jointly funded by the Central and State Governments.

The decision was taken during a meeting of the Pune Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority (PUMTA), where it was resolved to draft a detailed project report for the new metro lines. The report, now finalized, received formal approval from the PMC’s General Body on Tuesday, according to Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale.

As part of the expansion, ₹3.6 crore has been earmarked for land compensation. The proposal will now be forwarded to the government for final approval.

The Hadapsar-Loni Kalbhor metro line will span 11.5 kilometers, featuring 10 stations, six of which fall within the municipal limits. Similarly, the Hadapsar-Saswad railway station corridor will extend 5.57 kilometers with five stations, two of which lie within the municipal area. Both routes will be entirely elevated.
