Pune Metro Ridership On Two Newly Inaugurated Routes Cross 10 Lakh

Pune 21st August 2023: The Pune Metro has been receiving a good response of passengers since the launch of two extended routes that now connect Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. According to officials, a total of 9,83,516 people travelled on these two routes till Sunday since their launch on August 1.

It may be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 1 inaugurated two extended routes of Pune Metro between Phugewadi to Civil Court Metro Station and Ruby Hall Clinic to Garware College Metro Station via Civil Court. The feeder service for PMPML Buses and Auto Rickshaws launched recently has also helped in ridership increase as it has extended the Metro connectivity in the city.

The Metro officials had earlier announced to start running trains from 6 am instead of 7 am following a demand from students and office-goers. The students are also provided 30% concession in the monthly pass while other passengers are provided 30% concession in the ticker fare on Saturday and Sunday. The Metro officials also said that ‘Pune One Card’ sales have also increased as around 6,000 people have purchased it since its launch on August 12.
