Kondhwa, 26th June 2026: Amid ongoing water scarcity affecting several parts of Maharashtra, the Millat Foundation Pune organised a special Dua-e-Istisqa (Prayer for Rain) at Kausar Baugh Ground on Friday afternoon. Hundreds of people gathered to offer collective prayers for rainfall and relief from the worsening water crisis.
The prayer was organised as several districts across the state continue to witness declining water levels, affecting the availability of drinking water and agriculture. Parts of Konkan and other regions of Maharashtra have been experiencing below-normal rainfall this season, raising concerns over water availability.
Speaking on the occasion, the founder of Millat Foundation said the prayer was held in accordance with Islamic teachings.
“Many regions, including Konkan and other parts of Maharashtra, are facing a serious water shortage. Water is essential for every living being, and people are worried due to the lack of rainfall. In Islam, our holy scriptures guide us to offer Dua-e-Istisqa during such times. Following this tradition, we have gathered today to pray to Allah for beneficial rain and seek His mercy. We hope that Allah accepts our prayers and blesses the state with timely rainfall.”
The organisers explained that Dua-e-Istisqa is a special congregational prayer and supplication performed during periods of drought or prolonged dry weather. It is regarded as a Sunnah practice in Islam, where the community comes together to seek Allah’s blessings for rain.
The event also conveyed a message of unity and compassion, with participants praying not only for rainfall but also for relief from the hardships being faced by farmers, rural communities, and residents affected by water shortages across Maharashtra.
The programme concluded with collective prayers, as attendees expressed hope that the state would soon receive adequate rainfall to replenish reservoirs, improve agricultural conditions, and ease the ongoing water crisis.
