Pune: Minority Cell To Be Established In Every District For Effective Implementation Of Welfare Schemes

Pune, 19th February 2025: In a significant move to strengthen the implementation of welfare schemes for the minority community, the state government has approved the establishment of a Minority Cell in every district, functioning under the direct control of the District Collector. The District Planning Officer will head the newly formed cell.
To ensure better monitoring and execution of various minority welfare initiatives, District Planning Officers and District Minority Officers have been designated as Drawing and Disbursing Officers. This measure aims to streamline the allocation and utilization of funds for different schemes.
Additionally, a directive will soon be issued to facilitate the direct transfer of meal allowances into the Aadhaar-linked bank accounts of minority students residing in government hostels managed by the Minority Development Department. The process for distributing food allowances to eligible beneficiaries is already underway.
The official orders for these initiatives have been issued by Milind Shenoy, Deputy Secretary of the Minority Development Department, marking a step towards enhancing the efficiency and transparency of minority welfare programs.
