Pune, 20th January 2024: In a significant achievement, the Pune-Miraj Doubling project has been successfully completed under the leadership and guidance of General Manager Ram Karan Yadav. The completion involved a meticulous 98-hour Non-Interlocking process, with 72 hours under traffic and 26 hours under a traffic block, at Miraj Yard.

This initiative was in connection with the commissioning of doubling between Sangli and Miraj, covering a distance of 9.48 kilometers. The successful completion was marked at 19:45 hrs on January 19, 2024.

During the Non-Interlocking phase, major alterations were made to the existing Miraj Route Relaying Interlocking (RRI), comprising 244 routes of ABB Make. Notably, for the first time on Central Railway, Free Home and Advance Starter Signals with block protection were provided during the Non-Interlocking period.

This commissioning process included the most extensive yard remodelling in the Pune-Miraj doubling project.

Salient Features:
– Miraj Yard:
– Total routes after doubling: 244
– Total sheets in the circuit: 730
– New sheets in this work: 202
– Alterations in the circuit: 455 sheets
– Total jumpering done: Around 8000
– Jumpers pre-inserted: 6200
– Jumpers inserted during Non-Interlocking: 1800
– Testing carried out through mock panel for the complete yard.

Additional Work:
– Closure of 3 Level Crossing gates
1) Level Crossing -01 and Level Crossing -465 WSL gates of Miraj
2) Level Crossing -130 WSL gate of Sangli
– Dispensation for 88 routes for flexibility in operations in Miraj existing RRI with PCOM sanction under GR 3.47, 5.16 & 5.16(1).
– 22 T-Outs laid.

Major Constraints:
– The existing RRI had already undergone three major alterations, adding complexity to the circuit due to significant jumpering and sheets involved.
– Approximately 250+ S&T staff, including Railway and Contractor staff, were actively involved in the project.

Pune Division played a pivotal role in supporting the project, with wholehearted contributions from P/Way supervisors, blacksmith parties for T-Outs, and track machines. The Signal and Telecommunication department, including Sr. DSTE Pune, dedicated themselves to the complex work of RRI alteration. The operating department at HQ and Division actively managed traffic and granted blocks, facilitating the executing departments to work seamlessly.

OHE work was executed by PGCIL under the guidance of Sr DEE TD and PCEE.

The overall support of the Division played a crucial role in the successful commissioning of this section.
