Vishrantwadi, 8th April 2026: A demand has been raised to remove the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor between Bombay Sappers and Vishrantwadi, citing increasing traffic congestion and inconvenience to commuters. The demand was put forward by MLA Bapusaheb Pathare during a meeting with Mahesh Awhad, Chairman and Managing Director of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited.

Pathare submitted a memorandum to Awhad and held a detailed discussion on the issue. He pointed out that the BRT corridor on this stretch has been contributing to frequent traffic bottlenecks, causing daily hardship for motorists and local residents.

Highlighting the rising number of vehicles in the city, Pathare said the existing traffic infrastructure is under significant strain. He stressed that removing the BRT corridor on the Bombay Sappers–Vishrantwadi stretch could help ease congestion and make traffic movement smoother.

“The city’s vehicle population is increasing rapidly, and the current traffic system is under pressure. In such a situation, practical decisions are necessary to provide relief to citizens. The congestion caused by the BRT corridor needs to be addressed urgently, and alternative traffic management measures should also be considered,” Pathare said.

He urged the transport authorities to take swift action to improve traffic conditions and ensure better convenience for citizens. Responding to the demand, Awhad assured that the matter would be examined seriously and that further action would be taken after reviewing the situation.
