Pune: MNS Activists Vandalise Office Of Medical College Dean Arrested By ACB

Pune 9th August 2023: The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers on Wednesday vandalised the office of the dean of Pune Municipal Corporation’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College after he was arrested for demanding and accepting bribery for admission. The accused dead Ashish Shrinath Bhanginwar (54) was nabbed by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh for the admission for MBBS course under the institutional quota.

The MNS activists while protesting against the dean at the college barged into his office and vandalised it. The party workers claimed that it is a big racket and an in-depth investigation must be done against those responsible including the PMC officials and political leaders who are likely to be involved in it.

It may be noted that Banginwar had demanded Rs 16 lakh from the student’s father for admission. The student had cleared the NEET 2023 exam and he was selected for the MBBS course at the medical college run by the Pune Municipal Corporation. The father was asked to pay the bribe by the college dean along with the government fees of Rs 22.5 lakh after which he approached the ACB team. After verifying the details, the ACB tema laid a trap and the accused dean was caught while accepting a bribe of Rs 10 lakh as part of installment of the total bribe he asked. A case in this regard has been registered at Samarth Police Station and further investigation in the matter is underway.
