Pune: Mohammadwadi Residents Demand Police Probe Into Amenity Plot Trees Uprooting Incident Near Gemini Society
Mohammadwadi, 7th October 2021: Residents of Mohammawadi have demanded a probe into a brazen incident of uprooting citizen planted trees in an open amenity plot located opposite Gemini Housing Society in Mohammadwadi.
Residents alleged that five to six persons came in a mini truck (MH26 H 1686), uprooted the trees and went away in violation of the Tree Act of the state.
A senior citizen on the condition of anonymity told PunekarNews.in that tree uprooting was a pre-planned operation aimed at depriving people of their rights. This was planned in secret by most powerful people for their benefit, he alleged.
Citizens expressed fear that their voices will be muzzled if they raise the illegality which took place in broadway light at 10.30 am today.
The citizens’ forum in their complaint to the Pune police has said that vested interests were involved in a sinister conspiracy of amenity plot grabbing through manipulating the system.
According to locals who informed the police, a well-organized system that works against the citizens exists in hindsight. These vested interests have kept people watching on amenity plots and deprive the citizens of their right to school, education, and other social initiatives.
“The amenity plots grabbing mafia needs to be exposed as it exists in connivance with elected representatives, real estate developers, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) administration and criminal elements”, a social activist pointed out.
The police complaint has demanded registration of the FIR against the accused who acted against the interests of society.
