Pune: Monkey Caught In Khandala Who Had Been Biting People For Last Two Months, 28 Injured Till Now

Lonavala, 2nd May 2022: After two months, the team of the Forest Department and Shivdurg Mitra Mandal has succeeded in catching the monkey who has been biting and injuring people in the Khandala area.

 

The monkey was biting the security guards at the Girija Hotel, ICICI Learning Home, Dagdi Bungalow, as well as guests and people who travel on two-wheelers. Residents of the Khandala area have expressed the possibility that monkeys may have bitten about 28 people.

 

The Forest Department and Shivdurg team had been trying to catch the monkey. However, they were not able to do so as the monkey was hopping into private bungalows. However, the monkey had to be apprehended due to the panic created among the civilians due to the ongoing attacks.

 

On Sunday morning, at the request of the forest department, Shivdurg Mitra Lonavla, RESQ Trust Pune and the forest department launched a joint operation and successfully caught the monkey.

Residents of the Khandala area have breathed a sigh of relief after the monkey was captured. The operation was carried out under the leadership of Khandala Forest Department forester Sagar Chutke and RESQ Trust’s Tuhin Satarkar.
