Pune: More Than 30 Trees Fall Incidents Reported In First Heavy Pre-Monsoon Rains, Over 100 Vehicles Damaged

Pune, 10th June 2022: The heavy rains on Friday caused many incidents like uprooting of trees at various places, water logging and a wall collapse in various parts of Pune city. Though there was no loss of life, over 100 vehicles were damaged, officials said.
According to Pune Fire Brigade, over 30 incidents of trees falling in the Pune city were reported due to the heavy rainfall at Parvati Shahu Colony, GPO, Bhavani Peth BSNL Office, Prabhat Road, Aundh Ambedkar Chowk, Near Raj Bhavan, Guruwar Peth Panch haud, Shivneri Nagar (Kondhwa), NIBM Road, Kondhwa Road, Navi Peth, Rajendra Nagar, Parvati State Bank Colony, ST Colony, Swargate and Kondhwa Anandpur Hospital.
Also, a massive tree fell across the road and damaged about 25 two-wheelers parked outside the Police Commissioner’s Office near GPO.
According to IMD, Shivajinagar area recorded 24 mm while Lohegaon reported 32 mm rainfall till 6 pm.
Apart from traffic jams due to water logging and uprooting of trees, another incident occurred where a wall collapse took place behind Sahyadri Hospital on Karve Road, where the boundary wall collapsed and damaged 10 two-wheelers and one car got stuck between the fallen walls.
