Pune: Motorist Robbed Of Rs 500 At Traffic Signal
Pune, 8th January 2023: Police nabbed a man who robbed cash from a motorist on the pretext of begging at the chowk near the Regional Transport Office (RTO).
The arrested thief has been identified as Eknath Maruti Sawant (35), a resident of Vaiduwadi, Hadapsar. A woman has filed a complaint at Bund Garden police station.
According to police, Sawant was begging at the signal at Regional Transport Office Chowk. At that time, a motorist gave him Rs 10. Sawant grabbed the Rs 500 note from his hand and ran away. The motorist shouted for help. The police personnel at the signal gave chase and caught Sawant in the Sangam Ghat area.
A preliminary investigation revealed that he was stealing for addiction. Police sub-inspector Gord is conducting further investigation.
