Pune: MSEDCL Double Pole Structure Catches Fire in Pimpri; Young Man Sustains Burn Injuries

Pimpri, 4th April 2024: A harrowing incident unfolded at Morwadi Burial Ground on Thursday evening around 6:00 PM, leaving a young man severely injured after he was electrocuted by a Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) Double Pole Structure (DP). The victim has been identified as Shyam Chhotelal Chaudhary, aged 28.
According to reports, the PCMC Main Fire Station received an alert regarding a fire at the burial ground at approximately 4:50 PM today, triggering a prompt and efficient response from their team. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a youth lying near the electric DP, which was engulfed in flames.
In a coordinated effort with MSEDCL personnel, the power supply to the area was promptly shut down to mitigate further risk. Despite the challenging circumstances, firefighters battled tirelessly for an hour, dousing the flames with water. Locals revealed that Chaudhary sustained severe injuries from the electric shock, causing him to collapse nearby. He was handed over to the police and rushed to receive medical treatment.
Lead Fireman Bhushan Yewle provided an update to Punekar News, disclosing that Chaudhary suffered extensive burn injuries, about 50%, as a result of the electric shock.
