Pune, ‍15th July 2021: MSEDCL has taken strict action against customers who are reluctant to pay their electricity bills despite repeated opportunities. MSEDCL is working hard to achieve the recovery target of Rs 1,813 crore set by its headquarters by the end of July.

MSEDCL’s financial condition has worsened as the consumers are not paying the pending electricity bills. Chairman and Managing Director Vijay Singhal and Director Sanjay Taksande have ordered a rigorous recovery drive across the state as it is not possible to meet the monthly electricity purchase and distribution costs along with the salaries of the employees.

Accordingly, under the guidance of Pune Regional Director Ankush Nala, Chief Engineer Sunil Pawade has formed squads for each division and sub-division. These squads will take action against power thieves along with the recovery of electricity bills.

Baramati Circle’s electricity bill dues have gone beyond Rs 6,000 crore. Over the last year, 90,948 domestic, commercial, and industrial customers who have not paid their electricity bills are in deficits of Rs 64.49 crore. Immediate action is being taken against them.
