Pune : MSEDCL’s New Fiber Reinforced Plastic Protectors to Enhance Public Safety Around Electrical Infrastructure
Pune 20th Oct 2023: The Maharashtra State Electricity Development Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) has introduced robust and durable fiber reinforced plastic protectors to enhance safety around transformers and double electric pole structures. The traditional wooden protectors, which were prone to damage due to weather conditions, theft, and vandalism, are now being replaced by these advanced fiber reinforced plastic protectors on an experimental basis.
Chief Engineer Rajendra Pawar inspected the fiber reinforced plastic protectors recently installed on electric poles in the Lullanagar area. These new protectors have been installed in approximately 250 locations, covering different areas in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad along with Mulshi, Velhe, Haveli, Maval, Khed, Junnar and Ambegaon. The initiative aims to ensure uninterrupted power supply by protecting the electrical infrastructure from external elements and potential damages.
Traditional wooden protectors were vulnerable to various issues including rotting, water damage, breakage and theft. These problems led to frequent disruptions in power supply and higher maintenance costs. The fiber reinforced plastic protectors, standing at a height of approximately seven to eight feet, not only provide effective insulation but are also resistant to water and physical damage. Their sturdy and long-lasting nature ensures that they do not succumb to breakage or deterioration, even in adverse weather conditions.
The robust design and durability of these protectors make them a cost-effective solution for safeguarding electrical infrastructure. With the introduction of these advanced fiber reinforced plastic protectors, MSEDCL is taking a significant step towards enhancing public safety and ensuring the reliability of the power supply in Pune.
