Pune: Mucormycosis Cases Decreased In Pune; No Death Reported In The Last Two Months

Pune, 30th August 2021: In a sigh of relief, the Pune district has not reported any death due to Mucormycosis in the last two months. There was a sudden surge in the number of patients suffering from Murcormycosis after the second wave of Covid-19 hit the city.

Apparently, the patients who recovered from the virus but had low immunity suffered from Mucormycosis. Many of them died as they did not get the treatment.

The rural part of the district reported 79 patients suffering from Mucormycosis. Out of which nine patients died while 66 patients recovered from the disease. “The highest number of 44 patients was reported in June. Currently, four patients are treated for the infection and no new patient or death was reported in the last two months”, said the district administration officials.
