Pune, August 21, 2020: Against the background of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) spread, many tourist spots in Pune have been sealed. Yet many citizens were found violating the restrictions and loitering around at a few tourist destinations like Lonavala. To avoid any breach of restrictions, residents of Mulshi taluka have stepped out on the streets to block the path for tourists who are visiting the area for leisure.

The villagers have stated that already the COVID-19 cases have crossed thousand in the jurisdiction, they don’t want to exceed the number anymore. “Every weekend hundred people come to Mulshi for tourism, even though, they shouldn’t be travelling in the current situation. As the COVID-19 cases in our region have crossed 1000, we need to be more alert and take precautionary measures to avoid the spread of the virus”, said Amit Matere.

The cops are allowing permits to only those who have an emergency or essential purpose. Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Sandip Patil appealed people to avoid travelling without any reason. “We are allowing only those who have a valid travel permit”, he said.
