Pune, 23rd August 2023: The municipal administration of Pune has taken the decisive step to recommence developmental efforts in the villages of Uruli Devachi and Fursungi. As part of this initiative, development projects totaling up to one crore rupees will be executed in these two villages.

With the endorsement of these works by the Finance Committee of the Municipal Corporation, the tendering process is slated for implementation in the upcoming days, promising a swift pace to the development endeavors in both locales.

Uruli Devachi and Fursungi were incorporated into the municipal jurisdiction in October 2017, heralding the initiation of developmental projects by the municipal administration. Over the past five years, an approximate sum of 250 crore rupees has been invested in these villages.

Additionally, a substantial allocation of around 42 crore rupees is allocated within the 392 crore sewage disposal project to further enhance these two villages. The government has sanctioned a Town Planning (TP) scheme encompassing 371 hectares for both locales.

The Urban Development Department of the state government released a preliminary notification in January, outlining the prospective removal of Uruli Devachi and Fursungi from the municipal purview. This move aimed to establish a unified municipal council for these two villages.

In response, the state government sought feedback from the municipal corporation, which duly expressed non-objection to the exclusion of these villages. Subsequently, solicitation for objections and suggestions commenced. The compiled report has since been forwarded to the Urban Development Department. In light of the perceived stagnation in the villages’ progress and consistent grievances, the municipal administration had halted ongoing developmental initiatives following the notification of their potential exclusion. Subsequently, discussions were initiated to address development concerns in these villages.

Furthermore, given the assurance from the Urban Development Department of the State Government that the villages have not been officially excluded from the municipal ambit and that the exclusion decision would be undertaken only after rigorous legal scrutiny, the Municipal Corporation has taken the proactive decision to undertake developmental works anew.
