Pune Municipal Corporation Staff Caught Accepting Bribe Of Rs 1 Lakh From Retired Employee

Shivajinagar, 30th June 2023: The officials from Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) today caught an employee of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) while accepting a bribe of Rs one lakh to help process encashment of earned leave of a retired staff.

The accused, identified as Pravin Dattatray Pasalkar (50), a class IV employee of PMC, has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act. An FIR has been registered at Shivajinagar police station.

According to ACB, the complainant, a retired supervisor (Mukadam) from the Health Department, brought this matter to light. It is alleged that Pasalkar demanded a bribe of Rs one lakh in exchange for processing the bill for encashment of the complainant’s earned leave balance.

During the investigation, evidence was gathered, establishing Pasalkar’s involvement in the bribery incident. He was caught red-handed accepting the bribe within the premises of the PMC. Police Inspector Shriram Shinde is further investigating the case.

The action was taken under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (ACB) Amol Tambe, Additional SP Sheetal Janve and DySP Nitin Jadhav.
