Pune, 27th February 2023: The Election Commission has taken action against several candidates in the Kasba Peth Assembly constituency for alleged violations of the code of conduct.

BJP candidate Hemant Rasane has been charged with a violation after he was seen wearing a scarf with the BJP symbol around his neck while voting. It is prohibited to carry any party symbol within 100 meters of the polling station and act in such a way as to influence the voters. NCP Vice President Rupali Thombare filed a complaint against Rasane, which led to the case being registered against him.

Mahavikas Aghadi candidate Ravindra Dhangekar of Congress has also faced allegations of violating the code of conduct. He went on a fast after the end of the election campaign, alleging that the BJP was distributing money. A complaint has been filed against him.

Additionally, Thombare of the NCP was complained about for violating voting confidentiality by making a photo of the voting machine viral.

Kasba Peth Assembly Constituency Election Returning Officer stated that action is being taken against the candidates in question. It is important to maintain the integrity of the electoral process and ensure that candidates follow the code of conduct. The Election Commission will continue to investigate and take action against any violations.
