Pune: NADFM to Use AI, Data Analytics in New Campus for Defence Finance Research
Sangvi, 2nd February 2026: The National Academy of Defence Financial Management (NADFM), Pune, a premier Central Training Institute under the DoPT and apex institute of the Defence Accounts Department under the Ministry of Defence is set to establish a state-of-the-art integrated campus.
The Controller General of Defence Accounts Vishvajit Sahay, IDAS laid the foundation stone of the sprawling new Academy campus on 02/02/2026 in the presence of GOCin-C Southern Command Lt. General Dhiraj Seth.
At this occasion, Ande Poshetty, IDAS, Director, NADFM presented a sapling, a book and a Memento to all the dignitaries. The function was also attended by Dr. Ravindra Singh, OS. Director General (R&M), Vinod Kumar Vijay. IDAS, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Officers), Moloy Chandan Chakrabortty, IDAS, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Southern Command), Dr. Bishwajeet Choubey, OS & Director DCW & E, Saravanan M.S., IDAS, Integrated Financial Advisor (Southern Command). This comes at a time when NADFM has recently been awarded 4-star ‘Ati-Utkrisht’ rating under the NSCSTI 2.0 framework.
Towards its position as a Centre of Excellence in Defence Finance, the Academy is set to embark on the footstep of creating a top-notch campus of International Standards. The planned divyang friendly facilities include- Administrative cum Training Block, Auditorium and seminar halls, Residential quarters for faculty, staff, and probationers, Transit facilities for senior officers, Indoor sports facilities and outdoor courts and smart, digital, green and paperless infrastructure.
Expressing his satisfaction on the achievement, Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), Vishvajit Sahay, IDAS, conveyed his congratulatory message to Director, NADFM and the construction team lead by CCE (R&D) West.

CGDA in his briefing mentioned that with strengthened infrastructure and mandate, NADFM will transform into a pioneer institute in Defence Finance, delivering advanced training, research, and international collaboration, The CGDA elaborated that the elevation of the Academy is aimed for capacity development within the cross-sectoral services under the Ministry of Defence i.e. Army, Navy, Air Force and allied Defence Organizations like DRDO, Coast Guard, MES etc. The CGDA also mentioned that the Academy will use data analytics, Al and latest technologies to generate research papers in the field of Defence Finance & Economics, inputs for budget formulation in defence, research on weapons & equipment procurement across the globe, market reports on the likes like SIPRI, Sweden etc. Further, the CGDA emphasized that MoUs with other premier institutions, Academia and Corporate entities are also in pipeline to break working in silos and such sharing of resources and cross-fertilization of ideas will reinforce NADFM’s stature as a hub of professional excellence in Defence Financial Management
Finally CGDA also added that in line with the guidelines of Mission Karmayogi, the Academy envisions a transformative role aligned with the Viksit Bharat mission, to serve as a pivotal catalyst in strengthening the defence ecosystem. By advancing capacity building within the government framework, the Academy will not only enhance institutional competencies and strategic decision-making but also extend its impact to the broader defence industrial base.
Through structured engagement with public sector undertakings, private industry, international partners, MSMEs, and defence start-ups, the Academy will foster innovation, indigenisation, and sustainable growth. These stakeholders will play a critical role in equipping and modernising India’s defence infrastructure, ensuring resilience, technological advancement, and global competitiveness in support of national security objectives.
