Pune: Nashik score six; Nanded, Aurangabad sweat

Pune, 14th December 2022: Nashik registered the biggest win, while Nanded and Aurangabad were stretched to the limits on a day of mixed results in the Western India Football Association (WIFA) Inter District Men’s (Open) Football Tournament 2022 at the Shiv Chhatrapathi Sports Complex, Mhalunge-Balewadi, on Wednesday.

 

The tournament hosted by the Poona District Football Association (PDFA) had Nashik rout Gadchiroli 6-0 after a goal each by Om Fadtare (2nd), Pradip Kanojia (36th), Anuj Lokhande (45th), Shubam Dayma (58th), Arup Kumar (63rd) and Reggi Aadhav (75th) swelled the scoreline over the entire 80 minutes of play.

 

Nanded and Amravati played out a 1-1 draw at the end of full time before Nanded emerged victorious 6-5 in the tie-breaker. For Nanded Khaleel Khan (24th) scored while for Amravati Sameeer Shaikh (15th) netted during regulation time. In the tie-breaker, Mohammad Rufe, Mohammad Faisal, Aabeed Khan, Pradip Suryawanshi, Shubham Parmar, Khaleel Khan scored for Nanded, while Amravati had Sumit Gawande, Pranay Charlie, Siddhant Mohod, Syed Sufiyan, Rohit Meshram find the net after Sameer Shaikh missed.

 

Later, Aurangabad had to wait for posting a tie-breaker win over Gondia. In regular time, Yafaiy Imran Bim (78th) netted for Aurangabad, while Bhuvnesh Shendre (48th) opened the scoring for Gondia. In the tie-breaker, Syed Fazalul Haque, Syed Rehanmuddin, Sohail Shaikh, Faizul netted for Aurangabad, while Vasu Kanojiya, Gaurav Gangbhoj scored for Gondia.

 

Other winners of the day were; Parbani who downed Sindhudurg 3-1, Latur beat Nandurbar 5-1, Palgar got the better of Raigad 1-0, Washim beat Osmanabad 1-0 and Thane downed Ahmednagar 2-0.
