Pune, 22nd June 2026: A Pune court will deliver its judgment on Thursday in the Nasrapur rape and murder case after concluding final arguments from both the prosecution and defence on Saturday.

The hearing, which lasted nearly five hours from around 11 am to 4 pm, saw the prosecution and defence present their closing submissions before the court reserved the matter for judgment on June 25.

Special Public Prosecutor Ajay Misar, appearing for the state, argued that the prosecution had established an unbroken chain of circumstantial evidence linking the accused to the crime. He relied on CCTV footage, DNA analysis, forensic reports, medical findings and witness testimonies to support the prosecution’s case.

According to the prosecution, six CCTV clips constitute a key part of the evidence. Referring to the footage and corresponding timestamps, Misar submitted that the victim was allegedly seen being taken towards the crime scene at about 3.12 pm, while the accused was captured returning from the area around 3.51 pm. The prosecution contended that the CCTV evidence, when read alongside medical and forensic findings, corroborated its account of the incident.

To support its arguments, the prosecution placed before the court a series of documents and analytical charts, including a detailed timeline of events, medical evidence assessments, forensic analysis records, DNA profiling data and a connectivity chart mapping the evidence.

Misar also referred to statements of crucial witnesses, including a child witness, besides relying on spot panchanamas, seized material and chemical analysis reports.

The defence concluded its submissions later in the day, questioning the prosecution’s interpretation of the evidence and attempting to create reasonable doubt regarding the material presented by the state.
