Pune: National Seminar On “Contribution Of Tribal Heroes In India’s Freedom Struggle” Held At Deccan College

Pune, 28th September 2022: Under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative of the Government of India, National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST), New Delhi, is organizing programs on the contribution of tribal heroes in the freedom struggle in association with 125 universities across the country. 

As part of this Deccan College Post-Graduate & Research Institute (Deemed to be a University), Pune, in collaboration with NCST organized a National Seminar on the theme “Contribution of Tribal Heroes in India’s Freedom Struggle” on Tuesday, 27th September 2022. 

A special lecture on the theme of the seminar was delivered by Shri. Bhaskar Khandvi, Nashik. The unsung tribal heroes who revolted against British rule contributed significantly to the freedom struggle. They sacrificed their lives to attain freedom for our country. But they did not get enough recognition for their struggle. Today, this seminar was an opportunity to know the stories of many such unsung tribal freedom fighters. Hon’ble Shri. Raghav Mittal, NCST Advisor, was the Chief Guest of the event. He interacted with the students belonging to Scheduled Tribe and cleared their doubts regarding reservation facilities. Dr. Vaibhav Khatavkar, the program coordinator appointed by NCST, made everyone aware of the functioning of the Commission. A film about the Commission’s activities was also screened on this occasion. The program was presided over by Hon’ble Prof. Prasad Joshi, Pro Vice Chancellor of Deccan College. He shared his remarks on the occasion of this program. Dr. Nisha Sawant moderated the program, Prof. Pandurang Sable, Liaison Officer of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes Cell of the University introduced the program, and Dr. Trupti More proposed a vote of thanks.

On this occasion, a photo (poster) exhibition on the theme of tribal freedom fighters and their contribution to the freedom struggle was unveiled at the Archeology Museum of Deccan College in the hands of Hon’ble Shri. Raghav Mittal.
