Pune, 17th August 2022: Natyashala proudly presented the Bharatanatyam Arangetram, duet debut performance of Gazhal Singh and Vaidehi Tare, on 14th August 2022 at Natasamrat Nilu Phule Natyasabhagruha, Sanghvi, Pune. During an evening of classical dance filled with intricate footwork, emotive facial expressions, expressive mudras, and soulful music, the audience stayed spellbound visualising a musical-visual treat. Dancing with one’s heart and soul surely leaves a long-lasting connection to the audience, says Charanya Gurusathya, Artistic Director of Natyashala Academy of Fine Arts.

The evening of classical dance portrayed the various aspects of Sringaram – Bhakti, Vatsalya and Sambhoga – by exploring new music, new themes, hours of practice and efforts taken to craft an exciting experience in the eyes of the audience, making it classically divine. The scenes of Krishna stealing the butter and coaxing mother Yashoda, the story of Bhavani Mata of Tuljapur, and scenes of Shiva and Ganapati were well portrayed by the dancers, keeping the audience at the edge of their seats throughout the two-hour performance.

The mesmerising execution by the members of the Orchestra, with Smt. Charanya Gurusathya playing the talam or natttuvangam while reciting the Jathis made the auditorium vibrant. Vocals by Sri. Rohan Pillai made the entire place divine. Mridangam and kanjira by Sri. Venkatesh kept an energetic tempo, with violin by Sri. Balasubramaniam bringing expressions into dance movements. The flute rendition by Sri. Sanjay made the dance serene. Sri. Gurusathya, rendering orchestral effects through Handpan (Russian Instrument), Djemba (American Congo), and Morsing (Rajasthani Folk), elevated the performance.

The auditorium was packed with the audience who enjoyed a live orchestra along with remarkable light effects, stage decoration, sound acoustics, and authentic crisp costumes. With so many aspects to think about simultaneously, dancers and members of the orchestra were completely focused and immersed the art lovers of Pune into a musical and visual treat.
