Pune, 31st May 2025: Senior IAS officer Naval Kishore Ram has officially stepped into the role of Pune Municipal Commissioner, succeeding Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, who retired from service on Friday. The transition took place during a brief and warm handover ceremony at the Pune Municipal Corporation headquarters.

Dr. Bhosale greeted his successor with a bouquet and extended his best wishes. “It’s been an honour to serve Pune. I am confident the city is in capable hands,” he said.

Naval Kishore Ram, after formally taking over the reins, addressed the media and officials, saying, “It is a privilege to return to Pune in this new capacity. My focus will be on inclusive development, transparency, and teamwork. I look forward to working closely with civic staff and citizens alike.”

Ram, a 2008-batch IAS officer from Bihar, began his administrative journey in Maharashtra with his first posting in Nanded. Over the years, he has held significant responsibilities, including CEO of Yavatmal Zilla Parishad and Collector of Beed and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (earlier Aurangabad), where he earned praise for his innovative work in solid waste management.

He previously served as Pune’s District Collector during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, where his leadership was widely recognized. Following that stint, he was posted as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi. With his return from central deputation, he has now resumed duties under the state government as the head of PMC.

Ram’s return to Pune has been met with optimism from civic circles, given his familiarity with the city and his track record in handling both administrative and crisis situations.
