Pune: NCP Fields Nana Kate As Candidate For Chinchwad By-Election
Chinchwad, 7th February 2023: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has announced the name of Nana Kate as the candidate for Chinchwad Assembly Constituency by-election. Until the last day of filing nominations, the curiosity of who will be the NCP candidate from Chinchwad was tense.
As BJP MLA Laxman Jagtap passed away, a by-election was announced for the seat of Chinchwad. Efforts were being made by BJP to make this election uncontested. Also, there was a controversy over whether Ashwini Jagtap should be nominated from the Jagtap family or Shankar Jagtap. It was time for Devendra Fadnavis to go to his house and mediate to settle this dispute. BJP has announced the candidature of Jagtap’s wife Ashwini Jagtap in this place. She filed the nomination form yesterday.
In Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) seat allocation, the Chinchwad seat has gone to NCP, and Rahul Kalate and Nana Kate were interested in this place. As Rahul Kalate gave a strong fight in the 2019 elections, there were discussions that he would get the nomination and win the seat of Chinchwad. But Nana Kate started trying to get candidature on the strength of his relationship with Sharad Pawar.
Finally, his candidacy was announced today. In this regard, NCP State President Jayant Patil announced the name of Nana Kate through a tweet.
