Bavdhan, 25th January 2025: In a shocking incident, Baburao Chandere, a senior leader from the Ajit Pawar faction of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and former chairman of the Pune Municipal Corporation’s standing committee, has been accused of physically assaulting senior citizen and real estate developer Vijay Raundal. The alleged attack occurred in broad daylight at Survey No. 273 in the Sus Gaon area, under the jurisdiction of Bavdhan Police Station, Pimpri Chinchwad police.

According to Raundal, Chandere trespassed onto his property without prior notice and began questioning and attacking his staff when they inquired about the ongoing work. When Raundal arrived at the scene to address the situation, Chandere allegedly assaulted him as well. Raundal claims that despite informing Chandere about his recent heart surgery and the fact that the incident was being recorded, Chandere proceeded to physically attack him.

“Chandere tried to snatch my phone, slapped me, and charged at me with such force that I suffered serious head injuries,” said Raundal. “This attack has left me shaken, and it’s appalling that someone in a position of public trust would resort to such behavior. Despite filing a complaint, the police have yet to take any action.”

Witnesses, including staff, officers, and a contractor present at the site, have corroborated the allegations. Videos of the incident show the severity of the attack, with blood visible on Raundal’s head from the injuries sustained.

The incident has sparked outrage, with demands for a thorough investigation and accountability for the assault. Chandere has not yet commented on the allegations. Meanwhile, Raundal is urging the authorities to take immediate action, emphasizing the importance of justice in preventing such incidents in the future.

The Bavdhan Police Station officials are reportedly reviewing the evidence, including the video footage, as part of their ongoing inquiry.
