Pune: NDA Cadets Undertake Epic Journey To Northernmost Corner Of India At Indira Col

Khadakwasla, 13th June 2023: The National Defence Academy (NDA) will be commemorating its 75th anniversary of service to the nation on 16th January 2024. As part of the celebrations for “75 Glorious Years of National Defence Academy,” a year-long schedule of events, including hikes to various corners of India, is being undertaken by NDA cadets.

From 31st May 2023 to 13th June 2023, a team consisting of 10 cadets and 3 instructors from NDA embarked on a visit to Indira Col, the northernmost corner of India.

The team departed from Pune on 31st May 2023 and reached Siachen Base Camp via Leh and Thoise. On 9th June 2023, the team arrived at Siachen Base Camp where they interacted with the troops deployed in the forward areas and paid homage at the Siachen War Memorial. They also conducted an aerial reconnaissance of Indira Col and Siachen Glacier using an MI-17 helicopter. This hike provided the cadets with an opportunity to experience the field conditions at the highest battlefield in the world.

During their journey, the NDA cadets also had the chance to interact with students from Ladakh University and Army Public School, Leh. This interaction aimed to motivate and inspire the students to consider a career in the Armed Forces.
